Dolphin Tale 2

Rocket Science VFX artists brought "Hope" to Winter for all live-action shots featuring both dolphins in the film.   Filmed a few years after the inspirational story took place, Hope is in 2014 a full-sized dolphin, larger in fact than Winter herself!  Through 3D and 2D digital replacement techniques, Rocket Science was responsible for turning Hope back into a baby dolphin for several scenes in the film.

The book and film are inspired by the amazing true story of Winter, a bottlenose dolphin that was rescued in December 2005 off the Florida coast and taken in by the Clearwater Marine Aquarium. Winter lost her tail after becoming entangled with a rope attached to a crab trap and was fitted with a prosthetic one.
